April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her journey in music in the 7th grade when she started guitar and piano lessons. April Lockhart penned her first track"Different" at 12 years old. The year she turned 14 was when she was devoted for a long period of time to writing song ideas and practicing her music. She began writing with her dad and her dad in NY and LA soon after. April added other themes to the track "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with issues such as peer pressurization problems, as well as teens who committed suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger as well as a spokesperson for the popular brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. Born without a left hand, the woman is a major part of herself. It's however not her entire story. The profile of Lockhart on Instagram does not hide her disability but doesn't just focus on the issue. What message is it trying to convey? The message? We are all multifaceted, and that our identities and physical self aren't as appear. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, says I don't want my physical appearance to define myself. I'm much greater than the physical person I am. It doesn't impact my everyday routine. I do the normal things and have adapted to my disabilities. It's an integral part of my life, and it's imperative to discuss it. Lockhart encourages us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. Even so, Lockhart admits that she has had periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance as well as wearing clothes that showed her arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she likes and uploads photos on Facebook in awe. Self-love for her was an extended process. It's a long journey. I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. I think that having people with you who understand you and can see the depths of your soul is vital because they'll be the people that remind you of what are you worrying about?
