Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 in 1980) was an American actress, singer, and dancer. She started her Broadway career with musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. The role she played in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh Ashford, Tony Award winner actor has worked alongside famous directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current film includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of an Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney DTC's platform. Ashford will be seen opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that produced Hamilton. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceedings in America for more than 100 years. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first significant character. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. She has also been in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role in the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for a Tony Award. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
